Who We Are
The home ground for Kanpur's badminton community
Kanpur Badminton Association (KBA), also known as the Kanpur District Badminton Association (KDBA), is the officially recognised district governing body for badminton in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. We are affiliated to the U.P. Badminton Association and registered under the Societies Act, 1860.
Our primary responsibility is to develop and promote badminton across all age groups in the Kanpur district — from grassroots coaching for children as young as Under-13 through to competitive tournaments for seniors. We provide the administrative structure that connects local clubs and academies to the state and national badminton bodies.

What We Do
Running the sport in Kanpur
District Tournaments
We organise the official ranking tournaments for Kanpur district, including the Cosco Kanpur District Badminton Championship — the primary pathway for local players to earn state selection.
Academy & Coaching
The KBA runs the Kanpur Badminton Academy at the Ragendra Swarup Sports Stadium, Lakhanpur, and recognises three affiliated academies across the city for junior and senior development.
Player Registration
We maintain the official register of district players, issue ranking cards and ensure eligibility is correctly verified so every tournament is run fairly under BAI/BWF age-group rules.
Affiliation
KBA is the bridge between Kanpur's clubs and the U.P. Badminton Association. We represent the district at state events and ensure Kanpur players are eligible for state and national competition.
Rankings & Selection
District ranking points earned in KBA tournaments count toward state team selection. We publish and maintain the official district rankings for all age categories.
Outreach
We work with schools, colleges and local sponsors to grow participation at the grassroots level — running coaching camps, awareness events and inter-school competitions throughout the year.
